“Pokemon GO, exergames and augmented reality”. This was the title of the workshop with which the AFAES Research Group participated in the European Night of the Researchers held in the Plaza de El Corte Inglés in the city of Jaén. In this workshop, materials were shown for the control of exercise intensity through heart rate (heartbeat using “Seego” and movement bracelets “FitBitHR”), lung capacity (spirometry), control of daily steps and miles walked (pedometers), body composition (bioimpomanometer “Inbody”), manual grip strength (dynamometry), or new active videogames (exergames) and apps for smartphones, which through proper use, can act as a powerful motivating agent to encourage practice of daily physical activity. In addition, we participated in a Microencuentro entitled “Digital technology to encourage and evaluate physical activity in schoolchildren and adolescents” in which they presented results of recent studies and how to use these new devices to combat the high rates of sedentary lifestyle.
